Private by design
Most HEIC converters upload your photos to their servers. Ours doesn’t — the decoder runs inside your browser, so personal photos never leave your machine. This is enforced by a Content-Security-Policy that blocks the page from talking to any third-party server, and it means the tool keeps working even offline once the page has loaded. What is a HEIC file?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the format iPhones and iPads use to store photos. It saves space, but many apps, websites and Windows PCs can't open it — so converting to JPG makes the photo universally viewable.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The HEIC decoder runs entirely in your browser, so your photos are converted in your browser's memory and never transmitted anywhere. Our pages ship a Content-Security-Policy that blocks the browser from sending your files to any other origin.
Can I convert many HEIC photos at once?
Yes. Select or drag in multiple HEIC/HEIF files and they'll be converted one after another. When there's more than one, you can download them all together as a ZIP.
Will I lose quality converting HEIC to JPG?
JPG is a lossy format, so there is some re-encoding, but at the default 85% quality the result is visually very close to the original. You can raise the quality slider if you want maximum fidelity.
Does this work on iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac?
Yes — it runs in any modern browser, on any device. It's especially handy for opening iPhone photos on a Windows PC or Android phone that can't display HEIC.
Is it free, and are my originals changed?
